Default 197BH Queen Bed Platform - How built?

2021 197BH model with the murphy bed up front. Has anyone taken apart the platform which folds down and the mattress sits on? Our bed is uncomfortable, feels lumpy / uneven, which I suspect is platform. Thought I would ask before I take it apart.

Thanks

Default 3/8" plywood, 15" O/C

June 16th 2021 Update:

Drove out to the storage yard to solve my mystery. The platform is low grade 3/8" plywood on top of 2X4's which are 15" apart.

No wonder the bed felt lumpy / wavy. I'll be upgrading this. Somehow.

We added 4-INCH GEL MEMORY FOAM TOPPER to our standard RV Queen short and sleep BETTER there than at home... thinking about adding plywood at home, LOL. Ordered Online, shipped free factory direct Costco dot com, and cheaper than in-store.

canyan - were you able to fold the murphy bed with the 5" mattress or did it require modification?

Default Murphy Bed

Hi we just replaced the existing foam using the existing cover with high density foam.We are able to fold mattress. They original foam was absolutely useless it had no support I asked Gulfstream if they had a upgrade and they didn’t so we went to a foam manufacture and had new foam made to fit in original covers.

Default Queen mattress upgrade - photo of old

Great suggestion, upgrade worked wonders! It was difficult to get the old "mattress" out of the hinged sheet cover thing and the new one in, but well worth the time and effort.

I did order (via Amazon) a 6" foam mattress and cut it down to size and the fold portion using an electric carving knife (works really well on foam and insulation). For those curious what's inside the sewn shut mattresses, I've included a photo of what I pulled out (it got a little destroyed coming out).
