We have a failed cylinder on the driver's side front slide of a 2004 Friendship 8411. Unfortunately, it's the front cylinder of the 2 as we have already re-built the other cylinder. The trouble is getting access to that cylinder. The shop where the RV is sitting at the moment, is having trouble getting the cylinder out. They believe there are two ways, 1, drop the fuel tank (almost full) or 2, cut out the floor. We are fairly certain there is not an access panel in the floor to make the cylinder accessible as we replaced the carpet years ago with vinyl planking and did not see any access panel. Has anyone experienced this problem and may be aware of how to more easily access the cylinder to remove it to be repaired. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately you have to take out the fuel tank. We had the same problem on our 2005 Scenic Cruiser (identical). There are experts (very rare), who stated it is a very thin crack on the hydraulic valve (most likely) and not the hydraulic cylinder. Because you have power on the slide to extend and retract. In our case, the slide retract slowly when driving. We secured now the slide with a 10’000 pound strap.
Curious where you had this done. We had removed the left cylinder 2 1/2 yrs ago and had it resealed. Worked like a charm. It’s happening again so we assume it’s the other side. We were told when you do one you should do both but it wasn’t easily accessible
If it has a straight shot to the other wall, cut wall and ADD small access panel? Or is that where Fuel Tank is in the way? Maybe seek guidance from RV TECH websites?

Remove the fuel tank is not a big deal for a RV repair garage.
