Default Suburban Furnace sf30

Has anyone had the problem with the burner cycling on and off during the call for heat and the fan stays running?

Are you getting actual ignition or do you just hear it “clicking”?

I am now working with the local rv repair shop who is an authorized Suburban dealer to fix the overheating of the burner chamber. He said the high limit switch activating during the heat cycle means a problem with the furnace or a damaged or incorrect heat vent sizing. He did a bench test and said the furnace is working properly. He said this is a common problem with damaged floor vents from the factory or poor design and fixes it with extra vents. He said I can try to use smaller orifice.

Default sf30 furnace overheating

After inspection of the floor ducting, we found it did not have enough air flow to support a 30,000 BTU furnace which is listed in the sales info. The furnace is a SF30 model by the serial number, but Gulfstream or the dealer had downsized it to a 25,000 BTU by installing a # 53 orifice in the burner (too large for the furnace). They must have known there was a problem with overheating but did not fix it. The furnace had 3 duct connections so I added a fourth near the high limit switch to reduce the internal temperature. It still did not fix the problem. I changed the orifice to a #55 ($8 incl shipping online: [email protected]) to change the rating to a 20,000 BTU and now it heats the RV just fine and the burner does not shut off during the heat cycle. No more worries of fire in the RV!

IT WILL DO THAT WHEN BATTERY LOW And/or Overheating/ air flow restriction. There is a SAIL SWITCH (safety switch in airstream) that shuts off gas to prevent overheat/ fire. TRY CHARGING BATTERY. If battery voltage good, other possibilities are wasp/ mouse nest blocking air flow, failing blower motor, or failing sail switch/ wiring? LUCK
