Default Supernova brake warning lights

My wife and I just picked up our 2008 Gulf Stream Supernova 6331 Tuesday from Lazy Days in Tampa and headed south to Key West Florida with. The ride down was great, we stayed at Boyd's just outside of Key West and headed back home to North Carolina Saturday to beat the traffic. Just as we were stopping to fill up just south of Daytona the Brake Low Pressure light, Low brake Fluid light, ABS light and the horrible warning buzzer went off and kicked off the cruise control. It was on for a few seconds and went back off. Long story short this happened a few times and after we filled up and started back out on the road they went off again and stayed on. First called Lazy Days and the repair tech thought it was a pressure switch gone bad because the brakes still worked fine, no pulling or dragging on the brakes. Started out and still with the warning lights on decided to call Good Sam for road side and they got us in touch with a International Dealer that provides road side but said they didn't have any techs in because of the holiday weekend. Good Sam got a tow and the tow service had a shop and would look a the RV so we went there instead and the owner of the shop is supposedly a ex-International mechanic. He goes over everything I had went over with the Lazy Days tech and I googled Gulfstream supernova brake issues and found this forum and found a lot of useful information about the brake controllers going out. Passed this information onto the "mechanic" and he said yeah they do but he wanted to check a few more things, well, 4 1/2 hours later one of his guys disassembles the dash and unhooks the warning buzzer and takes $315 for trouble shooting and off we go. About 10 minutes later I notice the lights are off and the cruise is working again. We make it to the South Carolina welcome center and stop and a little break and when we hit the road the lights are on again, about 40 mins later they go back off and stayed off till we stopped in Orangeburg SC for the night. Headed out about 6:30 this morning and the lights came on and went off 3-4 times briefly maybe 1 min tops each time. Stopped at the Charlotte airport to pick up our car and it didn't go off any from the airport to the house which is about an hour and a half away. Going to call Lazy Days on Tuesday because they gave us a 30 day warranty plus we purchased a two year extended warranty with the coach just in case and it looks like it was a good thing.

This is our first RV and really enjoyed the experiance and looking forward to getting this fixed and getting it back on the road. Any of you guys with similar experiences please chime in with what solved your issues.

Number One: go back and read all of the info on the Forum concerning the ABS System on the Internationals.
Number Two: Get your rig to an International Dealer. Just any old Mechanic is not familiar with this problem.
This is an International SNAFU. Get it addressed. These rigs do not stop on a dime. JMHO.
We been there and done this.

Well, just got off the phone with the local International dealer and they don't want to touch it because its a "Motorhome" and thinks the brake system is by Gulfstream and not International and they referred to me to a RV dealer that is close by...this don't look like its going to be a fun issue to get fixed unfortunately.

You need to express to them that the chassis is Inter and the box is RV.
Seen this before. You were going to have to be persistent. International knows that there is a brake problem with this breaking unit. They've had the same problem with the brake units on international school buses. They're going to try to say that this is an RV problem when in fact it is a Drive train problem.
My next suggestion to you would you be contact international and find out who the rep is for the area in which you live. Contact him and explain to him the problem you're having with the break unit and that international dealer says it is an RV problem I'm not their problem when in fact it is.
Let me know how you make out it is their problem and they need to rectify it.

Called another dealer 50 miles away and they knew of the problem and has worked on the SN's, both shops are owned by the same people so the service manager there called the local service manager and got it all straightened out and dropped the coach off around 1PM today. Forgot the warranty papers so I had to stop back by and drop them off and they had already pulled it inside and running diagnostics on it. Was hoping to hear from them this evening but no luck so hopefully I will know something tomorrow.

This kind of sucks, did all the paper work and signed the deal in August but couldn't pick it up till this past Tuesday. Paid the first payment two weeks ago, took delivery on Tuesday, used it through Sunday and now its in the shop.

Update 9/9/15 Got a call from the International dealer and they said one of the battery cables is corroded bad and need to replace it because they seem to think this issue is sending faulty codes to the cpu. Said their warranty specialist called the company the warranty is with and this is not covered under warranty and to change the cable will be $325...Ouch! They did say however that if what they think is wrong the warranty will cover it. I got the call at 9 AM on Wednesday and thought I would have heard back from them later in the day but no call. If I don't hear anything today I will call them tomorrow and update the situation.

Update 9/14/15 Just picked up the SN from the International dealer (Rush truck center)in Hickory NC. They replaced the corroded battery cable assembly and could not get it throw any codes and I hope this fixed the problem. They said they were getting a lot of codes before and thought a lot of them were due to the battery cables not getting a good connection. This is our first RV and while this sounds kind of bizarre I have had experience on a couple motorcycle cycles that similar cable issues and once corrected there weren't any other problems so I hope this takes care of issue on the SN. No big road trips planned till November 24th so will really be sitting on our hands till then.

9/18/15 Drove the RV yesterday and all three of the brake lights came on again twice. First time was nothing more than on then off. Second time was for about 20 minutes. Guess its back to the shop.

The brake controller needs to be replaced and the wiring gets updated to help fix this. Should have been done years ago. Talk firm and nice to an International dealer and make them research the VIN. Yes, it will cost money, butt they know about the problem and CAN fix it if they try. The school buses got fixed, remind them the NHTSA will look at this if the safety procedure wasn't followed. My International dealer stepped up and did mine, OK since. I'll try and pull old paperwork if you get no results. John I paid my part, they paid there's

9/21/15 Dropped it back off at the International dealer this morning. We'll see what they say this time. I told them it was the same issue as before. I can't say for sure and I am sure they will not tell me but my gut feeling is they know the problem and when they ran this by company the warranty is with they said lets try just changing the battery cable harness first since you found corrosion on it then if that don't fix we'll do what we need to do to fix it...again thats not what I was told but feel like that is what happened. I wish the dealer we purchased it from was closer to us because they have been very helpful and I feel sure they would have fixed the problem.

I too have joined the HCU replacement club. Same issues, Rush Truck Center, Springfield, IL, replaced the HCU to the tune of around $4,000. I too pushed to have them check the VIN and the warranty, recall info etc, but they said there was nothing out there. They said they did find the School Bus recall info, but I was not covered under it. Mine is a 2008 SN6400 on an Intl 4200 chassis. Any information anyone can provide would be great. If there is any way to reach back to International and get my money back, I will try. I don't think I will get anywhere, but hey, I can try.

Gemini John, if you find more, please PM me, thanks.

9/23/15 Starting to get a little old dealing with this. Rush Truck center is telling me they cannot get the lights to come on with them and the truck isn't showing any codes. I explained to the service manager what was going on and he said "Yes, it sounds like the controller" but the warranty won't cover it because it isn't showing a code for it. What the heck man? From what I have read all over the internet this is a common problem on the 4200's across the board. Has anybody had the service people tell them the computer shows a code if its bad?

I have searched and cannot find a recall for the brake controller. The only brake recall I have found is for 2010-2011 4200's and it was a e-brake issue https://www.automd.com/recall/campaign_c86508/

9/25/15 Update. Warranty people will not cover the brake light issue because the lights are not coming on now at the International dealer. After everything I have read when the Low Pressure, Low Fluid and ABS lights come on its been the controller and even the mechanic said its sounds like the controller but because the lights are on and there is no code being shown they are telling me they can't say for sure that is what is wrong.

If anybody has any input to help me press through this issue I would certainly appreciate it. Also, is this controller issue leading to eventually having NO Brakes?

9/28/15 Pretty much same ole, same ole. They couldn't get the brake warning lights to come on or so they say but on the way back with the RV they came on for a few seconds with me....go figure. I did talk to the shop foreman and I asked if he had seen this before and he has and when I asked what it took to fix it he said they replaced the brake controllers but without a code they cannot get authority to replace the controller. Guess I'll drive the piss out of it till either it sends a code of the brakes fail and we'll just have to take legal action against the warranty company because they will not authorize them to replace the controller without a code.

I have the same issues with mine. I found this service bulletin. I have ordered the part but have not been able to test it out.

5/29/16 Brake warning lights came on again and never went off. This was just a short trip, only about 300 miles round trip. Brakes worked just fine but the wife followed in the Jeep and said the brake lights weren't working either so I guess its back to the International dealership. This is getting old.

Had a awesome vacation, stayed at the Cherokee KOA, super nice campground.
