pneumatic cylinders under lift bed for Amerilite 21MB
We just bought a 2009 Amerilite 21MB travel trailer. I stowed some gear under the queen bed. Now I can't get the bed to close. Is there a trick to getting the pneumatic cylinders to leak air? I tried a "gentle" lifting of the bed, like what might work on a lift hatch of an SUV. I tried a "gentle forcing down on the bed. I tried turning the cylinders. What's the trick here? The bed remains stuck open at about a 20 degree angle. Were my wife to sleep like this, I am sure she would get a headache for real! Any advice?
I have since found out that the cylinders I speak of are more properly called gas springs, manufactured by International Gas Springs, Inc. They still wont retract though.
Problem solved! I just had to apply a closing force directly over the top of the spring (midpoint of the bed). I was pushing down (gently mind you) from the foot of the bed. That does not work. Thanks to anyone who thought about my problem.
