Default Please Help 2008 SunVoyager

Has anyone had problems with Freightliner Chassis on 08 SunVoyager? Ours has been to the FL shop 3 times in 6weeks. And the problem is not solved and no one seems to have the correct answer. We (my sister and myself)picked up our coach April 24. We had a smooth and comfortable ride but noticed the front drivers corner had to be kept at the center line and the rear passengers corner was almost off the road. There were no odd sounds or vibrations. We just figured it was bigger than our last coach. However then I got home to PA from ARIZONA and my husband immediately saw that our tow hitch was not straight and the rear passenger side tire was off center in the wheel housing. A rear tire blew out and had to be replaced last weekend. Now they want to rehang our rear end. I am not mechanical minded but would like to hear from anyone else who has had similar problems. I LOVE the coach but this is a serious safety and value problem.

Welcome to the site.

We own a Tour Master, so not the same, however, I can say a few things about Freightliner.

With our rig we had stopped at I think 4 Freightliner service centers for driveability issues. It turns out, all are not created equal.

What you WANT to do is to make an appointment at the Gaffney SC service/training center and drive on up if your coach is able.

When you call you will more than likely be speaking with Pat. A wonderful lady. Have the last 6 digits of your vin ready and tell her we said "Hi".

This was the only service center that was able to fix our issue. If anyone can, THEY CAN! And these are the ones you want looking into it as they are not only a service center, but the training center. So they know what they are doing for sure.

BTW...You can camp right their at the center. So come in the night before so to be ready.

I'd have a alignment shop check it out. Sounds like its not tracking properly and could be an easy fix.

Thanks for the reply. The SV has been to the alignment shop Freightliner in Pgh, Pa. twice. and a third time in Barkeyville, Pa. A big shot from corporate FL has also looked at the unit. Now the answer seems to be to rehang it?? I don't know it all sounds like poor workmanship. Are there no Quality Control checks anymore?

Unfortunately, when you say rehang it, you must be referring to the rear axle. That means the drive axle is not in correct alignment, and the only means of correcting that is to cut the axle free from the chassis and rehang it. It happens, and I am happy to know that Freightliner is willing to do this. You are correct, this is a major safety issue/problem. Get it done pronto. From my other post, and David's recommendation above, go to the Freightliner sites.

Your information on your chassis is here: https://secure.freightliner.com/newbull ... brand=FCCC

Join the Freightliner Chassis Owners Club, through Family Motor Coach Assn.

Especially to check out the recall section:

There is a variety of tech information:

Finally, there is the Freightliner Custom Chassis site:

Did Freightliner check your coach for a factory recall?
