Default Using Coach compressor to air

Where does a person connect to on a diesel pusher with a hose to air up lets say a tire? And if anybody has pictures as to how to put quick disconnect somewhere for air, I sure would like to install one on my coach. Never have had to use air, but it does not hurt to have a way to air up your tires if needed.

The Tour Master has an air hose and a water hose in the compartment behind the front wheel on the passenger side. I also carry a husky compressor I bought at home depot for about $100 with which I can fill the tires if I run the genset. Really that is handier that running a lot of hose from one place to reach all the tires. But, I did put a quick disconnect on the air out let in the afore mentioned compartment. You would think your coach would have an air outlet someplace too.

Ray, On our 2004 that we have now, came with a hose air connection in the passenger side front compartment. On the 2003 that we used to have, didn't have a air connection on it.

What I did was install a quick disconnect in the air block that is located in the front above the generator where the air horns are connected to the air distribution block. It is right in front of the drivers
side on the "firewall". To see it on the Yellowstone, I just open the front outside access panel. I just removed one of the plugs in the block and screwed in the quick disconnect.

If you have the power generator access that comes out in the front on your Scenic Cruiser, you should be ablle to see the air distribution block by looking to the right of the opening on the "firewall".

One other thing, I would install a shutoff valve first and then the quick disconnect. Sometimes quick disconnects have a habit of leaking air thru, the valve would prevent the air from leaking.
That is what Gulf Stream did on our 2004.

Thanks Ron, That is exactly what I wanted to know as to where to attach a ball type valve and then the quick disconnect.

I do have the electric slide for the Onan 7500 that slides out about three feet. Again thanks for the information.

I never thought to mention that there is a ball valve on the connection the hose is attached to and I put the quick disconnect on the end of the hose. Mine doesn't have the pull out generator but I have a friend with a HR Endeavor that does and his hose comes out of the manifold on the compressor after a ball valve. Its probably the same freightliner chassis you have with a 325 HP cummins.

Thanks Nemo. I will check it later on. I was suppose to leave on my trip today to Lake Tahoe, but while listening to the weather report they said the wind was going to be up around 50 mph gusts up in the mountains by Ventura, Ca. So I delayed my trip by a day.

I definitely want to install a ball valve cock and a quick disconnect. You never know when you might need air for a tire or even an impact wrench.

Last year when I was at the balloon fiesta in Albuquerque lot of motor homes there parked at the Sandia casino and I noticed this motor home that had a low tire and the owner pulled out a air hose from a compartment and hooked it up front to a quick disconnect and filled up the tire.

I thought that was a great idea using the compressor already on the coach.

I had a portable compressor I had bought at WalMart, but it could barely fill automobile tires. It would never fill those 22.5 tires.

Last fall while in a remote area of Michigan, I raised my coach jacks in preparation to leave and when I walked outside, my right front tire was totally flat (had a bad valve extension). One of the last things I do before departing is to check the air in all of my tires, but hadn't got to that point yet. I opened up the compartment behind my steps where I have a factory installed air hose and inflated the tire to 115 lbs. The last several pounds were slow, but it made it. I would have had to wait a very long time for a road service to respond if one could have been found at all. I've had an onboard air hose in each of my last three coaches and have used them on numerous occasions. Often times I'm also asked by other campers if I can inflate their bicycle tires or water floating devices.
