Default Refrigerator Igniter

RE: Dometic RM2652 refrigerator/freezer gas/electric

When starting up on gas, the status panel Check light comes on while the igniter 'ticks' to light the gas. Once the gas lights, the Check light goes off and (I believe) the igniter quits trying to light.

Currently, I'm finding that the igniter keeps ticking after the gas is lit and the unit starts cooling. Refrigerator and freezer are cooling fine, just the igniter. Something from my past with a home water heater says there is a thermocouple involved.

Thoughts as to what I need to clean or replace?

Thanks

Light stovetop first to help remove air from piping, then REFRIG may take 3-6 restarts to blled air out of remaining piping before it works properly.

If the igniter is still trying to light, even after you have good flame, is an indication of a bad flame rod. Meaning the little rod that doubles as an igniter electrode. Try replacing that (one screw), it may solve your issue.

Sounds like the Circuit board is going bad. The circuit board uses either a flame sensor or a thermo-couple to sense if the flame is there, if not it shuts the gas valve. If the flame stays lit, the flame sensing circuit is working and the gas valve is doing its job keeping the reefer running. That leaves the ignition circuit not receiving the message it is no longer needed and the circuit board controls that function. I would recommend replacing the OEM board with the Dinosaur brand board, there are few complaints compared to the OEM replacements and the OEM board might not even be available anymore due to age of the unit.

I just had the same issue gas was working on stove but refrigerator kept trying to start. My 12 volt battery was too low. Once I had the battery charged the refrigerator gas ignited right up.
