Default Fuel Consumption

Hi all,
I have just returned from a ten week trip round Spain and Portugal in my new Sunvoyager 8295.
Had a great trip and very pleased with the coach despite one or two minor problems.

The only thing I was surprised about was the fuel consumption at 6.3 MPG I expected to get nearer 8 or 9. I drive trying to keep the revs at around 2000 rpm or less. The vehicle has now done 7500 miles and I ran without using air con.
Does that figure sound right or doyou think it is heavy.
Excuse my ignorance on this but here in the UK I am much more used to desiels than petrol engines in large vehicles.
By the way its the Chevy 8.1 engine

regards

Dave

Hi Dave... I just completed a 2000 mile trip, loaded moderately, pulling a Chevy Blazer (small, but framed SUV). The WorkHorse 8.1 trip computer reported an overall 7.0 mpg.

Nearly all of our travel was on interstates. For likely 80% of the total, I set the cruise control for the exact speed limit (65 mph or 70 mph). I have seen a 1 mpg improvement on the average by using cruise control & try to "never leave home without it on". Traveling faster than 70 mph kills the average in a heartbeat.

Hi Bob,
Thanks for the reply.
Towing at your speeds and returning 7mpg sounds more like what I would of expected. Driving at 55 and returning 6.3 seems kind of heavy to me.

Any body else able to give me their figures.?

Regards

Dave

Just curious......

What is the octane rating of the fuel over there?

I think that can have a lot to do with mileage, even though you might not notice a loss of power. Especially in a new ( or new to you) Motorhome.

95 octane is the usual, or you can opt for super 98 octane (I think)
