Default Dinghy supplemental brake

Is anyone using a Ready Brake on their towed car? What kind of problems if any & would you recommend it?
Thanks,
Bob form OK.

Never heard of a Ready Brake. I use a Brake Buddy on a couple of toads and they work pretty good.

FWIW: http://www.readybrake.com/brake-systems.html

Seems like a deceptively easy system. I have checked with my friends, and members of my group and none of us have this system. It will not work if you have assisted brakes, ie the vacuum assist that I have with my Jeep. It also will not work with hydraulic assisted brakes.

I would like to know if you do purchase this item how you calibrate it, and check its function.

I was studying the Ready brake system, and it is an actuating type hitch which works basicly like the system I have on my boat trailer. By looking at the picture in google I can't tell if it has it own master cylinder or if it utilizes the master cylinder already on the toad. The vacuum booster would be no problem. All he has to do is apply the brakes about three times after the engine is turned off to bleed the air off the booster. But he has to have some kind of an adapter valve system that would incorporate the air and then into the hydraulic system to work together. There is another company that has a simular system, but they don't have the actuating hitch. The adapter is mounted right behind the toad master cylinder and an air line attaches to it coming from the coach. I am not quite sure, but I believe it was manufactured by M&S or something like that.
The Ready brake system looks like a good system, but I don't know how much of a job it is to install on the toad. Once it is installed I am sure all you have to do is connect the air hoses and bleed the booster on the toad.
That is what I do with my Honda Pilot EXL.

The ReadyBrake is a surge type braking system. Will work with ANY toad/MH. All that has to be done is to run a cable from the brake pedal arm of the toad to the front of the toad and then to the actuating lever on the hitch. Couldn't be any simpler. It is mainly for hard/emergency stopping, but that's when you need it most.

Ok, now I understand how the ReadyBrake system works. It is actually a very simple way to apply the brakes on the toad. But how do you get a cable from the brake pedal to the hitch?

We have the Ready Brake RB3000 on our HHR. It is a surge brake. We had it installed in Quartzsite last winter. It came with the install but it was a simple install. Click on the link that Rick has provided to see how its done. Simple and inexpensive. It works well.
