Default Airbags and jacks - Tourmaster

What is the sequence of inflating the airbags and raising the jacks? Which is done first.? We have in the past, as instructed by our Gulf Stream dealer, inflated the airbags and then raised the jacks. We were told this is the proper sequence so the rig does not drop as hard when the jacks are raised. We just had a problem getting the back airbags to inflate. The freightliner shop that we took the coach to told us to do it in reverse order. Looking for some insight on this.

Kate,

I'd like to know myself. Our dealer never mentioned it, so we weren't aware there was a recommended sequence. When setting up, we always let the air out of the bags first so the coach is a low as possible. It keeps the step close to the ground for ease of entrance and the jacks have the maximum amount of travel for leveling. But, I never gave it any thought as to inflating the bags first or raising the jacks first when breaking camp.

I've always raised the jacks first, but not for any particular reason. Now that I think of it, it makes sense to inflate first then raise the jacks for the reason your dealer stated.

Hi...

The Freightliner training Center in Gaffney SC recommended to start coach, start the inflate and give it a couple of minutes and then retract jacks.

Seeing that was from them, that is what I do.

So, I guess we're going to have to go for a consensus vote.

Kate's Freightliner shop said raise jacks first
David's Freightliner contact says inflate bags first

I'm inclined to agree with the inflate bags first theory.

Seeing I was at the actual training center right at the factory. I will keep doing what I am doing.

I'm with David. We have always inflated the bags first and were very surprised when we got some different instructions from a freighliner shop. Thanks everyone for helping us to clear this up.
