Electric awning

I have a vintage cruiser 17scd with an electric carefree awning. If it is out and the motor fails is there a way to manually retract the awning.

If it's a Carefree, you can manually retract it with a cordless drill or battery. Look up your awning and download the instructions. Model info is in the roller.

You can retract it using an external power supply but there does not seem to be a easy way to manually operate it. The manual only refers to how to connect an external power source. This makes sense if the motor is ok, however what do you do if the motor is dead. Seems like you either have to remove the motor or cartridge for the awning. Seems like a very hard way of doing it.

I believe the drill takes the place of the motor while the outside power source just operates the motor.
I will check my manual when I get home.

Oops, I stand corrected. It is a cordless drill battery that is used. So basically you supply a power source.
