Default Does this sound right?

So bought a used 2009 Ameri-light 22 and it is in great shape. Well, except had to replace the brakes and now the corner of the shower ( that sort of popcorn, flimsy material) started separating from the corner seam. It looks like there is water damage behind it and the shop told me it looked like someone had done a decent repair on it at some time but the moisture was not taken care of.
I’m now being told that to fix it, they need to peel the rear outside wall panel off to fix it as that’s how Gulfstreams are designed and fabricated? This obviously is going to take a ton of hours to do but, and full disclosure: new guy here with no experience, am I dumb in thinking they can remove the two shower walls and the tub to check and replace any water damaged backing or plywood?

Any previous experiences would be greatly appreciated as I have a lot of doubt about this explanation and fix.
