Default Base plates and tow bars

I'm going to pull a 1999 Jeep Cherokee behind my 33' 2000 Conquest. I see the price of tow bars and base plates vary widely, does anyone recommend a particular brand of base plate and tow bar?

Rob,

These parts are made from quite heavy gauge metals and a bit bulky, so they are somewhat expensive to ship. You might find that the manufacturer closest to your geographic location is the most reasonably priced vendor.

I chose the RoadMaster products as they are built in Vancouver, WA -- just across the river from the Portland Oregon area where I live. Plus, the installer was factory trained and worked for them for decades before opening his own shop.

I am sure the Blue Ox products are of equal quality as well...

I have Blue Ox Aventa II 10K rated tow bar and base plate. It has worked for me. I tow a 4200 lb Honda Pilot EXL.

X2 on Blue Ox. I have used their base plates on three Jeep Wranglers now and really like the simplicity. strength, and appearance. Personally, I have always used the Blue Ox Ambassador tow bar. It is the simple "A" frame type. I like it because it is simple, reasonable, requires no maintenance, and will most probably last me a lifetime. I have looked at those fancy tow bars but just cannot justify the expense.

Good luck,

TxTC

I just wanted to add you may be able to find a deal by going to HitchTrader.com and clicking on "wanted to sell" icon. Sometimes there are good buys there.
