Default Battery/shore power problems

Hi, we just purchased a 2009 Ameri lite 21MB and when the battery is completely disconnected the interior lights, furnace and fridge do not work even though we are connected ti shore power. Any ideas on how to fix this?

All of those things you mentioned need at least some 12v power from the battery to work, so make sure you have a good battery and that all of your circuit breakers and switches are on so that the battery can power those things. You should not disconnect the battery if you are trying to power anything in the trailer.

Shore power is 120v power which provides electricity to your outlets, AC, etc. Shore power also provides power to the power converter, which both CONVERTS 120v power to 12v power and charges the battery.

If battery was CONNECTED REVERSE POLARITY, it may have blow the REVERSE POLARITY FUSE at CONVERTER/CHARGER then battery corrected, but fuse not replaced? There are usually TWO of these, one fuse panel to battery, the other Fuse panel to Converter?

Am I correct in thinking that (for the DC portion) the shore power converts to the 12 volt which goes to the battery, then to the 12 volt circuits? That is everything 12 volt is powered from the battery, whether shore power is present or not. No separate 12 volt from the converter that goes around the battery.

Thx

(Most?) Power Center FUSE PANELS have TWO (30a or 40a @12vdc?) MAIN fuses, (Often labeled REVERSE POLARITY), one goes to CONVERTER, one goes to Battery. then Battery end of same cable has 12vdc CIRCUIT BREAKER close to the battery (usually within 18"?) The converter may also have a RESET button/ circuit breaker on it. A battery installed backwards (may) pop all 3-4 devices, but better than smoking wires/ starting fires? A Point of CONFUSION to many RV USERs is when BLACK/WHITE cables used on Battery and BLACK=POS(+)
vs BLACK/RED cables, where BLACK= NEG(-).
HOPE THIS HELPS?
