Default Our Trip

Well, we completed our 5,000+ mile trip from CT to NM and back. A month on the road was very enjoyable for us. Lots of great places to visit and explore throughout the country. Our trips always have at least one problem. On our drive home on 84 in NY last Friday night in the rain the windshield wipers stopped. Luckily we were just turning into a rest stop. I checked out the visible mechanism and then called CoachNet. The technician determined it was wiring, the switch or motor. Couldn't do anything till the AM so we slept at the rest area. Next morning we drove home in the daylight rain and will go to Long View this week. But an odd thing happened in NY on our first day. Upon stopping at a rest area I noticed that lying next to one of the rear tires were the lug nut covers. The wheel cover was gone, but neatly arranged in the parking lot were the lug covers. We got them replaced at GS in IN. Then in TX the SmarTire light went on, so we pulled off the hwy. There, neatly arranged on the ground were lug nut covers from the other rear tire. The wheel cover was gone, but I have the lug covers! My theory is that the force of the turning tire kept the lug covers in place until the motion stopped. As previously experienced the 42' is a bit long for some parks and cg's. We do remain GS loyalists!!! To those who offered sound advice, towing is the best thing for us. Opened everything up. Thanks, Charlie
