Default No Power to Electric steps

I'm the owner of a 04 Kodiak Gulfstream Endura with Kwikee electric steps. They just stopped working! I have no power to steps, they are retracted. Can not find 20amp fuse? Only located 5amp inline fuse, replaced! Any information would be appreciated. S/F

Sorry to hear about your steps not working. I had the exact same problem. It would sporadically work at first. Then on one camping trip as we prepared to leave, it failed completely and I had to crawl under the steps to release them and bungee cord them up for the trip home. I took my Endura (2006) to an electrical guy. He checked all of the fuses and there was no power. He applied power and the steps worked perfectly, so the motor and gears were all working fine. I had him install a switch using a known good power source and made them work manually. Haven’t had any problems since.

I would check the fuses first. Then I would check the gears, before I went with the manual switch. Good luck with your steps.

Attached is a fuse map from the class A coaches -- not sure how useful it may be for a Kodiak. There should be a map label near your fuse block that is specific to your rig.

My Class-C steps are fed power from small 12vdc circuit breaker next to battery/ battery switch under step.

There are several failure points that others have mentioned. My 08 has a switch on the wall next to the entry steps that controlls the step. If you have one, be sure it didn't get inadvertantly swithched. Also check that the magnet switch on the screen door didn't get dislodged.

You can also check the 4-way wire connector at the steps. If there is power there, the issue is probably with the controller or motor. There are several fuses to the unit. Check the diagrams in the manual.

Mine did the same thing I ended up changing it the brain and it still didn't work. A deep dive into the wiring and found a wire that was bad. I would check the wiring before buying anything for the steps.
