Default Greetings - new to RVing

Nigel and Lorrie here and complete beginers to the RV world... just signed up for a GS conquest travel trailer and pick it up on wednesday.

Any thing we need to watch out for? apart from having loads of fun and meeting new people that is.

Nigel and Lorrie,

Welcome to the world of RVing and congratulations on your new purchase. All you need to do to find fun and adventure is look through the windshield.

If you are REALLY new to RVing, here is my recommendation:

The Shakedown Cruise - Pack the rig with everything you need for a weekend trip (food-clothes-toiletries-recreational gear-etc. Then go live in it for the entire weekend, either in your driveway or a nearby campground. A campground is a better choice because it will force you to drive with the unit and require you to go through the process of setting and hooking it up at a campsite.

Make sure you take a notebook and your owners manual with you. Use every system in the unit (heat-A/C-stove-oven-hot water-sinks-shower-electronics). Write down everything that doesn't work and everything you forgot to take with you.

For the things that don't work, check the owners manual or ask fellow campers. There is always someone who has had the same problem and willing to share their experience. If it is really not working, you can get it fixed before that first big trip.

You will find lots of info right here in this forum.

Now get out there and enjoy yourselves!''
