Default Steer Safe Stabilizer

Has anyone put this on their coach - was it worth the investment? We are getting vibration in the steering wheel. We are taking it to the freighliner service center in Gaffney to get the coach serviced and also to get it aligned. We are also going to ask them about this product but I think of more value is input other coach owner's who have used the product.

I recently took my Toad in and requested either an alighnment or a tire balance because it vibrated (shimmied) at around 65MPH. The shop replied that alighment would cause the steering to pull but tire balance is what causes the shake. Balancing the tires worked!
Could easily be the same culprit for the MH.

We installed one on our previous motor home (Discovery), for poor handling in the wind. It helped with that, but I would tend to agree that vibration is probably tire balance and I don't believe Steer Safe will help with that. The TM handles like a dream compared to the Discovery.

I also agree it is more than likely tire related.

But if you also do want to add a steering stabilizer, I would suggest the Henderson Trim Kit system vs any other. I would stay away from the Trucenter system from BlueOx, see...

http://www.irv2.com/forums/f59/trucente ... 79623.html

Here is the info on the Henderson Trim Kit...

http://www.hendersonslineup.com/product ... assis.html

Note..The BlueOx and the Henderson system are not just stabilizers, but also allow you to TRIM the center line of the coach while driving. Example, a crown in the road that makes you keep holding the wheel to the left or the coach would drift right. With the trim you can press a button and "trim" that out so you no longer have to keep holding the wheel left all the time. (It trims out the tie rod.)

So the above is differnt then just the Steer Safe. A better way than the Steer Safe if you do not want the trim, is to used a Safe-T-Plus on the Tour Master

http://www.safe-t-plus.com/ (You need the Blue Colored one.) The Henderson Trim kit also uses this part as part of the system. So you could just start with this and have the trim kit added later if you want. (The trim kit just allows you to adjust this.)

Such items help with wind sheer and also when semi trucks pass. They help a lot with bumps and pot holes. But where they really shine is if you have a front tire blow out. It will help to keep the coach from jerking left or right.

I would not drive without one. I also will always have a way to adjust my trim.

Sorry for the long post.

Great product. Saw David's video and since we were going through Grants Pass ,OR on a trip last spring, decided to have the Steer-safe and trim control installed. Best money I have spent on the RV.

I had Stear Safe put on my 2005 Gulf Stream last march after taking it to Key west and return fighting the bumps, 18 wheeler passing etc. Now since I have no problem drives the same as my Sieara 1500 HD, glad I did it. I could have put the more expensive adjustable system on but the dealer people say they never had a follow up problem after people put that system on. I plan to keep it forever or until I can't drive any longer which will not happen in the next 10-15 years hopefully. Actually I sitting in Istanbul writing this, I'm here on business all next week.

GE J79 Engine...they last forever
