Default Awning: Prevention for unfurling while on road in high wind

Hi! I've read that it is a real thing that awnings can unfurl if caught in high wind while driving. Is there something that can be used prior to travel to prevent a potential accident from occurring? Thanks!!

Well maybe you’ve resolved I’m seeing your post late but you can drill a hole into the upper part of your awning mechanism and run a cotter type pin through it and that will secure it. If you like messing on you tube for stuff let me make a suggestion on a YouTube site, it’s called “rv street” he is extremely good and has some great hands on tips. He is a little different but aren’t we all. His idea is to teach us how to fix and maintain our rv’s. He did what I suggested and shows it in great detail. Hope this might help in your endeavors. MY 2000 Conquest w/ CAREFREE OF COLORADO has MANUAL RATCHET LOCKS on awning and slide awnings; accidently left slide locked one time while playing and discovered when I tried to Extend. I did convert awning to manual crank, so not needed there. I have never found any printed material on their operation or purpose, but can imagine they would help?
