Default Water Pressure regulator ??? Confused ???

good day all ...

I have used the small bullet style regulator but knew it was preset to 30#'S. So I got an adjustable one with a gauge. reading I can use water pressure up to 45#'s on my coach (this was a doc left by the previous owner).

So my question is: when I have the coach hooked up to city water supply and we are running water in the coach -Shower- the gauge reads 46#'s BUT when we close/ turn off all water in coach the gauge reads 80#'s. Am i using it correct? I would think 80# would burst the small pluming pipes. How does the regulator work?

Thanks,
Dazes and confused/overthinking it!
Buck

Have you adjusted it to the 45 lbs you want or is it cranked up to 80 lbs? I have mine set at about 55 and it never shows more than that. Could be less if the campground has low pressure but never more.

If you have the regulator hooked up where the city water enters your system then the city pressure is 80 when all faucets are off inside. When you turn on the shower, the measured pressure goes down. I just had to replace the regulator at my house, again. 150 lbs at the street from a private water company.

That is what I'm having. With all the faucets off I get 80#'s when I run the shower it goes down to 45#ish. What Im wondering is does the 80# extend past my regulator when all faucets are off or does it only allow 45#ish as the static pressure since that is what it is set at. I have a couple we rv with and that blew out their pex line and I do not want to have that happen to me.

Thanks,
Buck
