Default Voltage Gauge Jumping

Hi All,
Just picked up a 1990 Sun Clipper 30' 32k miles. Drove it home and broke dowm. The batteries were dead. Replaced both coach and frame batteries and new alternator. Started right up. Noticed the volt gauge jumps. You can actually hear the alternator kick in when the voltage is correct on the gauge at 12+ volts. Figuired it was a rusty connector issue. Cleaned the battery terminals and all connections. Any ideas?
