Default hydrogen generators

Recently heard something about hydrogen generators. Does anyone have one or know anything about them?

Mike:
Hydrogen generators are the new rage in fuel cell power. Honda makes a few cars with fuel cells that are in operation in LA.
Fuelcel makes large generators powered by fuel cells. Size now is about that of a pickup. Expect the size to greatly fall as technology ramps up.

I have done a lot of research on the hydrogen generators and the jury is still out on their effectiveness. The whole premise is with a little "still"
(mostly home made) mounted on board an using 25 to 35 amps of
alternator power you actually make hydrogen out of water and that
is fed into your air intake to your carb -injection system to make
you gas or diesel burn more effectively. From what I have read (and
that is plenty) it can help your milage 5-10%. The wild claims of 50
to 80% are simply not true and normally made by back yard makers
of the units. Ebay always has hundreds listed with wild claims. Popular Mechanics actually tested several units and their result was no gain.
It takes gas and diesel to generate the power that a 35 amp draw pulls
which is the main issue. Its kinda like the old perpetual motion machine.
There are however many that are using them and swear by them. They
do make them for big rigs and with low mpg to start with, a 10% increase
in milage could pay for the unit if you drove 100,000 miles a year. I am
still considering it for my Conquest Super C running a 365 6.0 diesel.
There is the warranty concern however...
