Default slideout problem?

I have a 1999 Gulf Stream Sun Voyager that I just bought used.

I went to check out the slide out. When I activated the switch the bottom moved out several inches but the top did not move. I stopped as I was concerned I might do damage if I continued.

The travel bars were removed and the awning was not locked.

Am I being over cautious? Or is something wrong?

We have found that the bottom does move out several inches prior to the top starting in motion. I would continue to determine if the top starts to move. If not, you may need fluid in the hydraulic tank which was a problem for us.

Default Slide

If you don't have the locks that some coaches have on the inside, then it would be safe to roll it out. But if you have the portable locks, be sure to remove them before extending the slide. I never have used them on my coach, but I know that Newmar coaches all have them, and they are a pain.

I was being over cautious. I tried it and it worked. Though when it was fully extended there was a gap at the top. That may be due to it not being extended for a while.

Thanks.
