Horns inop.
Hello, I have a 2001 Gulfstream Sunsport with a workhorse chassis 7.4 L
Purchased the schematic, but cannot locate the relay on the vehicle.
Per the schematic. There should be power at the horns at all times and the Relay sends the ground when you push the horn button
The fuse for the horn also works the dome light the dome lights work the fuse checks good.
No power at either horn
Does anyone have any experience with this?
The workhorse chassis was manufactured in June 2000
The Gulfstream Incorporated vehicle was manufactured August 2000

Hello,
It sounds like you are referring to an electric horn not air
Be sure to double check your grounds as they can be a problem also.
Then use a simple set of jumpers to test to horns directly to make sure they are not faulty.
If the fuse is good you should have a horn relay in line that could be bad.
Or simply the horn button itself.
If it is an air horn it will or can be still activated by a 12v solenoid that opens a valve to allow air to the horns.
Just a few added things you can check..
On my coach I can switch between air or an electric city horn using the same horn button on my steering wheel..

Appreciate you getting back to me
Never did check the horns, but there’s no power to the horns and there should be so I was figuring I would backtrack and figure out why there’s no power down there. The horns are too wire horns. It has a ground wire and a hot wire.
If I could figure out where the relay is, it would probably help me
Thought someone might know I guess I’ll just keep trying to figure it out.

Yeah, voice text leaves a lot to be desired. That’s TWO wire horns.

Many have relays on wheel wells under hood, others, like Ford, have a POWER CENTER under hood for relays and larger main fuses, then a Fuse box in Cab near driver feet or knees for smaller fuses. Not sure about Workhorse or horn, sorry. Should be able to download Owner Manual or SERVICE MANUAL for chassis and find it? Good Luck

Ok, thanks for the reply.I've done some research and have found a complete electrical schematic for your horn circuits. There are 2 20 amp fuses that supply the horn relay, the horn relay is located in a plastic block that is most likely located under the drivers dash/ kick panel area, but can sometimes be found behind the front hood on the firewall.If you can locate the horn relay, then most of your tests can be done there. Looking at the diagram, you can see that the horns should sound when 12v+ is applied to pin #87 at the relay. When the horn button is depressed, you should get a good GROUND signal at pin 86 of the horn relay socket. If you have good 12v+ going out to the horns from the relay, then you may have bed horns, this is not unusual. You might also try swapping the relay for with another one, as the relay could be bad. If you do not get a good ground signal at #86 when the horn button is pushed, then the steering wheel or column may need to be disassembled and look for the cause.-Joe>>

There anyway, you can send me that schematic
The one I got from workhorse, Parts only shows one fuse and that supplies power to two terminals on the relay the horn button supplies the ground which closes the circuit which energizes the really send ground to the horns that are supposed to be hot all the time or at least whenever diffuses live could be with the ignition on I’ve tried it both ways
Just can’t find a really I haven’t really been back at it since I’ve made this post but just crazy. I do find some relays and I’m not sure any of those. Those are the ones I’ll do some more research. Thanks again.
