Default Split backflow preventer

Anyone ever have the under-sink backflow preventer split on them? It is on the output of the hot water tank, just under the kitchen sink.

Ours split during the night & flooded the motor home. We were on local water at a campground so there was no limit to the amount of water. What a mess. Our floors are ruined. The laminate has peeled, blistered, & bubbled. I have no idea how I'm going to fix it since the floor goes under the cabinets. The counter top is fastened to the wall. It will be a major repair.

This not a GS fault other than their assemblers totally bottomed out the plastic fitting threads instead of merely tightening them, so this was an accident waiting to happen.

So I'm asking who HAS this happened to, & who WILL it happen to?

Bob, Sorry to hear about the mess and problems that you are faced with.
Hopefully Insurance or extended warranty will cover the cost of the repairs.

Never heard of this happening before.
