Default Tow Package

Trying to look around for a good tow package for Class C Conquest to tow a Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk. need the entire set up.

Asked one shop here in the metro poles and was quoted $5100 out the door.

Thought was high as the equipment from Roadmaster and the brake system equipment from Invisibrake you can for less than $2000.

Any recommendations?

I’d start with the equipment manufacturer’s website and read the installation instructions. I use a Blue Ox set up primarily as when I’m not towing, there’s nothing hanging off the front of my vehicle. In the case of Blue Ox, the instructions tell you every step necessary to install the base plate. This varies greatly vehicle to vehicle. I use a Ready Brake which as a “brake in a box” requires no installation but must be connected and disconnected each time you tow. This action takes about 2 minutes at each end of the trip. You also need lighting wiring and a break away switch but again, the instructions will give you an idea of complexity and an estimate of the time required.
I’ve towed three different vehicles. The first I did the work myself as for that vehicle it was very simple. The second and third, I had the dealer do as I bought the new vehicle. We made the deal as to price then I asked that they do the installation. I bought the kits and the dealership shop installed it. Took them 4-5 hours but didn’t cost me anything past the agreed upon price of the vehicle.

Good luck from an also retired CW4.

Have decided on the Roadmaster tow kit.
I asked two different dealers for a price quote and both were $5000 + - come hundred.
Went to the Roadmaster web site, priced everything I needed. (Got the list from a military buddy with Class C and same car.). The full set up was $2600 an free shipping.. I just can't see where there is $2400 worth of labor. They said it would take 6-7 hours to install and at $128/hr doesn't come to $5000. I'm having the kit delivered to my buds house in CO and will drive out and we are going to install it.
That is also with the invisibrake. They wanted to install another system that had you placing a box on drivers side floorboard and hooking it to the brake pedal. The invisibrake is installed and becomes part of the electric hook up to the car and there is nothing that ou have to do but plug it into the RV with the electrical connection. I like the old KISS theory.
