Default slide-out braces

We just bought a 2008 8360 and of course, want to keep it in great shape. It has two slides, and on each slide was a brace that we had to remove in order to slide out the sides the first time we used them. My question is, do we keep putting the braces back to hold the slides tight as we travel down the road? Does this matter? Were the braces just for delivery?

The braces are an additional safety feature. I think the official response from GS would be to use them every time you travel.

The only time that I use mine is when I am traveling with someone sitting on the sofa or the dinette which are on the slideout.
