I have changed the filter on my Cat engine about three times since I bought the coach new in 2003. My drive way where I park it is perfectly level and when I remove the filter/water separator, I notice that the fuel on the fuel line does not come out, so no air gets in the line. I remove the old filter as quick as possible, put the new filter on which I use Cat filters, screw on the plastic base that shows if there is water, plus the new seals, fill up the new filter with diesel and screw it back on. On mine it fires right up and no air has gotten in the system. But I think that If I saw that diesel was coming out of the fuel line, I wold plug it with something to prevent the diesel from letting air in the fuel line. That would be a problem because then you probably would have to bleed the system. Not sure because I never have had problems changing the filter.
