'06 TM Water Heater Setting

On our water manifold the "hot" side of for the water heater is set to off. Is that the correct setting for using the water heater or do both have to be set to the "on" position? Also, the instructions say to use the special tool to turn the knobs. I don't believe I received such a tool...

Thanks in advance. This unit is new to us (picked it up two weeks ago) and we are planning a check out trip this weekend in town...

Mike, I'll check our TM to see the correct setting. I don't recall now. The tool is a small plastic one that fits onto the red and blue manifold parts. There is a small hole that it fits into for storage. Charlie

The hot off, cold on is correct for normal use. The positions are reversed when you want to bypass the water heater. TB
