Is there anyone who has less messed around with older gulfstream from the late 1980s who can help me figure out wiring set up between the starting batteries and the leisure batteries. Why do there seem to be 2 starter relays in the fuse panel? And how do they supposed to work together?

Start here with this diagram -- it may not directly apply to your rig, but will give the approach used to share charging from engine while allowing isolation for use by chassis and house loads...

The two "starter relays" you describe are actually continuous duty solenoid switches which are controlled by the IRD module logic function. The one in the red oval is for the house/coach systems like lighting, etc and the one int eh green rectangle serves the chassis systems.

Thanks Chuck. This is really useful. It’s been a pain since I got the van to figure out what’s going on with this circuit as previous owners had cut/ spliced wires and essentially isolated the leisure battery so the only thing it did was provide power to the generator. Now at least I have something to go on. I had been trying to figure it from other folks images online when they took an under hood shot.
