A member filling the onboard water tank on a 1989 Sunsport found leaks under the sink and near the toilet, with water running out above the driver side rear wheel well. After removing the toilet and floor, they found the main leak was a snapped T-fitting feeding the shower, while another member described the plumbing route and noted isolation valves below the sink.

Members suggested the broken plastic fitting could have been freeze damage, but the owner felt it was more likely caused by...

1989 Sunsport I have finally got to the point of filling my on board water tank and, guess what, there are leaks!!! Theres one under the sink , I think on the 'T' piece to the water heater and theres another from somewhere below the toilet but not sure where. The tank doesn't seem to be losing water although the water is pouring out somewhere over top of the driver side rear wheel well. I assume that these will all be imperial pipes. I will ,have to cut a piece out and see if I can match it here in UK.

Well. I found the big leak. I removed the toilet and floor and theres a snapped 'T' piece that goes across to feed the shower!!!.

The pipe work is very adhoc on them. Most of it goes from under the bed and tucks to the back of the drivers side wheel well behind the toilet and then across to the kitchen sink. There is a t I think that goes from the bathroom across to the shower unit. If you take off the small inspection hatch below the sink you can see 2 isolation valves there

Hi again. I'm not sure if it froze or not. Certainly not during my ownership as it never had any water in it until a week ago. The pipework seems to be tight everywhere and that particular 'T' was quite 'stressed'. I managed to get some fittings fromMobile RV Maintenance and sorted it. I had to completely remove the toilet and floor pedestal above the wheel well, repair the pipe and rebuild the floor. All done and sorted now.

I don’t envy you on that one. When you had the toilet floor out did you notice if the wiring ran there or did it go under the floor else where?

There were several cables under there. Both 12 volt and mains. It wasn't too bad a job really to remove and rebuild it. Just a bit of forethought beforehand.

I am thinking of redoing mine. The guy who used to live in it full time had aiming issues so it can have a bit of a special smell during hot weather that no amount of carpet washing can resolve.

Oooh. that sounds lovely. My toilet area is a bit of a specialty!! as Im a drag racer and hotrodder, I have 'customised' it.

Thanks but, I don't think it was frost damage. Not whilst in my ownership anyway. I have had it since October and it has never had any water in it until 2 weeks ago. As I said. The pipework was 'under tension' how it was installed under there.
