Hello everyone,

I recently got a 2004 BT Cruiser 5210 through a death in the family and I'm trying to get it started. The chassis is a 2003 F350 with the V10 with only 25,000 miles. It hasn't been started in about 2 years (or longer). The battery was dead (at least didn't have enough power to turn the engine over) so I replaced it. The engine now turns over fine, but won't fire off. I have been looking for the fuel pump cut off switch but can't locate it. According to information that I have found in the manual, it should be located above the brake pedal on a bracket, but I can't locate it.

Can anyone on the forum help me out?

I'll probably be coming back for more help.

Thanks, Mark

Help!

Any help for me on the location ion the fuel pump cut off switch?

Thanks, Mark

Doubt if you have a "F" series, most likely "E" series cab cut a way. Find your answer by searching google.

On my 99e450sd, switch is over the passenger side kick panel, and relay is in FUSE/ RELAY POWER CENTER forward of driver near radiator. Good Luck.

1) If it has been sitting for years, how much fuel was in the tank? If not full, water and fuel breakdown may be keeping it from firing. It may be worth getting the old fuel pumped out and adding fresh. Probably don't want to hear it, but bad gas is a reality. 2) You can rent a fuel pressure tester from a lot of auto parts stores for free to see if you are getting fuel pressure to the motor first. If no pressure, then you can try to chase down causes like a cut-off switch or pump failure. Good luck.

Thanks Larry! I finally found the fuel pump ut off switch, it is actually located on the passenger side kick panel. It seems to be okay. We finally had the RV towed to a shop and to have the fuel issue checked out, fuel pump was dead. to make matters worse, when they where dropping the tank, they found that the fuel tank is all rusted and falling about on the outside, so now we are getting the tank replaced and all that goes with that. Looks like we are going to be in for about $2900 plus the $420 for towing. Not sure that this has been a good choice, but it only has 23,000 miles and not bad shape.

Thanks for your help.

msalderson, I was reading your comment about your RV that you recently got. It's so much like my situation. I inherited my 2004 BT Cruiser and the first thing I had to do was have the fuel pump replaced, among other things. It has been awhile and I'm still trying to figure it all out since the GS manual is not helpful at all. I hope to get out and take some short trips soon.
I hope you've been able to get yours running without too much expense. Have safe and happy travels.
If you end up in NC look me up.
Take care!

pandd15,

It ended up costing about $2900 to get it running. Not only did the fuel pump need replacing, but the fuel tank had to be replaced about a $1400 item for the steel tank. But, once they changed all that, it started and ran perfectly. I spent about 45 days fixing items, automatic step controller, water heater anode, controller and heating element on the refrigerator, new windshield (crack from top to bottom, fuel pump and carburetor on the onboard generator, two new batteries (engine and chassis) and a lot of cleaning. All together about $4500 not including my labor. It still needed some work on the engine A/C and the chassis needed the roof top A/C replaced. I got to the point where my wife and sister decided to sell it (it had belonged to their dad). Sold it in one day on Facebook Marketplace.

I used YouTube to find out how to troubleshoot and fix items, and my cousin was available by phone to assist me all the way.

Worked out for me.

Good luck!

Congrats on your sale.
I know exactly what you mean, I've spent the better part of the last 3 weeks doing various things, cleaning, replacing, troubleshooting. Question, did yours have a plastic water heater. I took the anode rod out, it was very different than what you normally see. It was very thin, I replaced it with a normal one. Did the cab AC stop blowing out of the AC vents. I have that problem, found a video on how to repair it, haven't tackled that one yet. I would have been even more lost without Utube videos.
Congrats on the sale, I have heard they are selling quickly, I may end up doing that too, I am really looking for one a bit longer.

Take care.
