Bedroom distribution board

The distribution board in the bedroom states on it that it is also a battery charger. Presumably this only charges the coach batteries. Are there any 'indicators' to say that its charging?

Look for manufacturer's model number and if shown, the maximum amperage of the charger function. Usually the "house" or coach batteries are charged by a 60 amp or thereabouts shore power supply when connect to the mains. This function also provided direct power to the coach interior lights and other 12 volt devices of course when on shore power...

I have never seen a coach 12 volt distribution panel that charges any other battery banks, but anything is possible -- and of course owner hacking after the coach leaves the factory can change just about anything...

Hi again. my unit is a 6300A model 6345 45 amp. As far as the indicator goes for the charging. I'm not sure that there needs to be one. Crikey what a noise. Should it really be so loud. The charger is on a seperate circuit breaker and when thats turned on the whole motorhome vibrates with the loud humm. Its charging at 4.5 Amps so quite a considerable charge current.

These units typically do not have charge indicators on them, since they often mount out of the way where viewing would be awkward. There likely is a state of charge indication on your status panel -- where the tank levels are indicated and often a remote aux generator start switch/run indicator is also located...

The older transformer based converter/chargers do make a bit of noise -- more modern replacements are said to be much quieter, but these usually are separate units not build in to the distribution panel.
