The slide has lost connection with rack. It will not work with motor but can be pulled out and in by hand.

I have a 2008 Crescendo FRED 32 ft and the same thing happened to the bedroom slide on ours. What I found was the sheer pin on the motor had sheered off. There was nothing available in Safford, AZ so I went to the Cat dealer and they sold me a couple of Spring sheer pins that they said was the toughest on the market. Well, both of them have sheered off so, not so tough, I guess. I have now put in a 1” long Titanium pin and have had no more problems. If your slide is like mine, it is not an easy repair but this 80+ year old have done it 3 times now. Mine was made by Power Gear (now Lippert).

Thank you very much for your reply.
My main slide is also Power Gear so I assume it is likewise the bedroom also. The slide is completely free to move. It has a single track underneath in the middle that has teeth. The bed is on top of the slide.

If this sounds like yours, can you please tell me how you located the motor?

If you prefer you can contact me at "[email protected]" ...........Jim

Jim,

I am assuming you have a “pedestal” bed. If you do remove the bottom of the bed and crawl in. The whole process is a lot easier if the slide is extended. Before you do this make sure the motor is operational. The motor will be way back at the outer wall. It is held on with 4 bolts and is kind of heavy so, be prepared for it. Then, it just slides to the rear of the coach. The attached photo is of the forward rack on the wall slide but looks a lot like the bedroom slide.

note: The gear motors are available on Amazon just make sure you get the right one.

Once I had it out it was just a straight punch and hammer to remove the sheared off pin then drive in the new one and reassemble.

Of course, I have a FRED (front engine diesel). If yours is a rear diesel, it may be totally different
