I'm sure some of the more 'seasoned' people will go 'ya, figured that out years ago' but for anyone else that has the type of city water fill that the campground fill hose won't screw to...

I took a dead potable water hose and cut off about 10" of the female end. Took some grinding but took just enough off of the rim of the female coupling (about 1/4") that it that will still screw to a male end, it can store inside the filler and still get the cap on so I don't lose it. Now all I have to do is pull it out, screw the campground filler to it and it stays nicely in the filler without me holding it and/or getting sprayed.

Great idea for storing the hose. I have an old wash machine hose that I cut the mail end off. I tried screwing that cap on over the female end but is just a tad too tall. I'm going to grind mine down. Thanks for sharing.

Are you talking about the fresh water fill that the hose will not screw into, the male end will fit inside the connection? Its designed that way so you don't over fill your tank while its filling, you have to stand there and hold the hose. The city water connection the hose will screw into and can stay there the whole time you're camping on site.
