Due to health issues we were unable to use the camper for 1 year. Getting ready to go and awning will not extend. I have power to the motor, so I am pretty sure the motor is bad. Unfortunately this motor does not have the manual bypass built into it that some of the aftermarket motors I have seen do. Has anyone replaced the original motor with the one with manual bypass? (7/16 nut at end of motor shaft that can be turned to manually open and close awning)

Do a little girl Google search. Just finished one where the guy was changing the motor. Did a very good job. He reported that the main problem with him is the wires get pinched in the rack going up to the motor in the arms. If you prove the motor is getting Joy juice in both directions. Then the motors gotta go. He rolled out the awning a little bit with the nut. He grabbed the shaft with a pair of vice grips. Because once you remove the three bolts for the motor all **** could break loose. So don’t let it spin. At the other end is supposed to be a hole where you can drive a pin in to hold it it doesn’t look like it’s extremely strong, but it’s worth noting. Good luck.
