Gulfstream quality opinions

Not a fan of the frameless window. Found the seals don’t seal tight because of the design. They make so much wind noise going down the highway. We bought replacement 60” x 30” sliders from RecPro. We have installed the first one and really love the quality.

Wow, that's great! Do you have a link to this specific window to order it?

New windows

We bought them from RecPro 60” x 30” they are called teardrops. We have both installed now and love them. We noticed that they are very quiet going down the road and in the camp ground.

Just a thought the trim ring from the frameless window will work on the new ones. So you can save on that. Also they come with seals installed. I just caulked the outside trim ring with silicone. Also the bug screens are much superior on these sliders, and the screens also slide, a nice feature.

Color code for the lower stripe

We contacted Gulf Stream.

Hello, I am looking for opinions on the quality of the BT Cruiser's. If you type in RV brands to avoid Gulf Stream comes up a lot. I have read mainly they used to be good but newer ones are prone to leaks and overall shoddy build. I know all brands have problems so I don't expect perfection but these bad reviews make me wary..Thanks
Quality Comes for Free—But "No Quality" Comes at a Cost
As a retired Quality Director in the automotive industry, my first statement has always been:
"Quality is free—what costs is the lack of it."

Based on our experience with our VC 19ERD (MY 2023), it's clear that Gulf Stream has not implemented an efficient Quality System to ensure consistent product reliability. Our trailer came with a myriad of issues, many of which should have never left the factory in the first place. Fixing these defects doesn’t necessarily mean increasing costs, but rather improving processes to deliver a product that meets customer expectations from the start.

Instead, I’ve spent countless hours and money fixing problems that should have been resolved under warranty—yet most were ignored by the dealer during the coverage period. And to make matters worse, Gulf Stream’s Customer Service seems designed to reject claims rather than assist customers—extremely disappointing.

For those considering a new Gulf Stream unit—be prepared to travel with a fully stocked toolbox and the patience to handle repairs along the way. It’s a shame because we love the concept of our trailer, but quality execution and customer support should be much better.

Gulf Stream, you can and should do better! 🚐🔧

I bought a new BT Cruiser BT 5245 this spring and can confirm shoddy workmanship.

The doorframe to the bathroom is so warped that the door will not latch, sometimes by 2 inches. The service guy removed the striker plate to that door and the hole underneath was not only oversized, but looked as though it had been dug out with a dull screwdriver. The bedroom side wall panel is not fastened to the studs. Apparently the nail gun ran out of nails and the worker kept right on going. Small holes where there should be nails.

Cabinet doors are not aligned. Numerous small issues. No hold-open catches for top hinged outside bins. Very little storage, inside or out.

And why do they make mattresses so darn hard? This, of course, is not limited to Gulfstream. But the silly split mattress cannot be replaced by a softer one. Sigh.....

That said, I still like the darn thing, and the Ford E-350 chassis hauls the horse trailer just fine. I don't know of any other small RV that meets our travel and hauling needs so well.
Speaking of cabinet doors on our 2020 189dd I can't understand what's so difficult to align the door hinges and handles with the one right next to it. Also the crooked handle on the wardrobe next to the bed is really annoying to look at.

Working on replacing the drains from the gray and black tanks. We are using a composting toilet so the tanks are only used for gray water. I removed the 3” reducers from both tanks. I found a plastic 2 1/4” core plug inside the gray tank. It was against the waste valve, I can imagine how much it blocked the flow when dumping the tank. Or what if it got stuck in the valve?

Did a check on the capacity of the fresh water tank. The 2021 5210 advertised 41 gallons of fresh water. If you take off the 6 gallons of water in the hot water heater, should be 35 gallon tank. Measured the tank 10.5 x 17.75 x 42.5 outside dimensions. Should be 34+ gallons. I guess they figure a gallon of water in the pipes.
Only thing is that when I measured the water I could add to the tank before water spilled out the gravity fill port 20 gallons. I installed a ball valve in the gravity fill 1” line. I was able to add 4 more gallons before water ran out the vent. Total 24 gallons.
I went back and checked the label from the overhead cabinet it has 41 gallons fresh, plus 6 for the HTWH.

Full disclosure the 41 gallons is the complete system water, tank, pipes, water heater and the sink drain stoppers close with the sinks full.

We recently got A 2016 BTCruiser 5210 and love it so far. It is in mint shape. Only has 5 hours on the generator. It has some little things wrong which is too bad because if Gulf Steam paid just a little attention to the build they would have a tremendous product. They cut holes for wires and leave all the saw dust and plugs under the cabinets and drawers, also leaves giant holes for rodents to travel under cover. The spare tire bolts spin so you can’t get the tire off (known defect that would be awful to discover on the road), my floor covering is peeling up at the top of the steps. It was cut short along the plastic threshold at the top of the steps rather than the linoleum being under the threshold. The knife bed was not comfy to sleep on. We got a 3” memory foam mattress topper and it was comfy.
I will say their customer service via email was tremendously helpful and very responsive.

With all the problems. We still love Our Cruiser 2021 5210.
We made some major changes, suspension, solar, lithium, awesome seats. We made it a home, a home on wheels. It fits in some neat parking spaces, handles and rides like our SUV, is very quiet going down the road and Our Cruiser is comfortable.
We bought it used, the price was right. We ordered a new Ford van. Ford had a strike that cancelled our order. It was meant to be. We got our BT Cruiser and never looked back.

Found something odd on Our Cruiser. There are fuses and main power breakers hidden in a box, that is hidden behind the house batteries. You have to remove the battery or batteries, contortion yourself through the small battery access door to access the metal door to the box. Then you still have to contort yourself to troubleshoot the issue.

Bad design. Good luck.
