Hello everyone, I’m new to this RV living thing. But doing my best to make the best of it. So my problem is this, when I unplugged from power, my refrigerator does not stay on. And I’m about to hit the road to drive a very long time without a refrigerator. I’m not sure where to even start. I don’t know a lot of the lingo that professionals use. I don’t even have a manual for this thing. It was kind of a, part of the deal I guess.

The fridge is able to run off of propane and electricity. It has a auto button at the top of it.

Model # DM2852RBX / 1500 BTU / 120v-60 hz / 12v AMP/ 2.7 amp

Any help would be amazing is a 2002 Ford conquest, F550 chassis. I think that’s all I can tell you at this point. Thank you for your time.

Is this RV new to you? Have you ever run the fridge on propane before? When disconnected from shore, does the light inside the fridge work? Is there a malfunction or CHECK light lit up on the fridge?

Without more info, I can say the fridge needs 12v power for the control board, inside light, etc. whatever the cooling power source, so make sure to leave the 12v disconnect (salesman) switch ON. Confirm your batteries are healthy and fully charged.

When traveling, it obviously cannot be run on 120v from shore, so if you need it on while travelling, it needs propane. Make sure propane is on. Check it is on and properly flowing by lighting a range burner for a little while.

A tip to travel without needing the fridge to be on for some hours is to get some of the larger reusable freeze blocks, and put them on the top shelf. This effectively makes the fridge like any other ice chest cooler. Refreeze them when camping and hooked up to power. Of course this does nothing for the freezer compartment, but it is something.

That should be a two-way propane/110v Dometic. Propane valve open, 12v battery switch in proper position. Open the freezer door and put it on "check." That is the propane only setting and see if it fires off. Once you get if fired off of propane you can put it to "auto" and it will switch 110v if available.

Lots of debate on running propane while driving but I've always done it. In fact I keep my frig on propane only unless I'm camping for an extended period.

Dometic Fridge Climate Control

One thing you need to check on your fridge is if it has the Climate Control feature. I have attached a screen shot from one of their manuals. If you don't turn it off when parked and on propane it will drain your MH battery and prevent the propane from firing up.
I lost frozen food once when I parked the RV for a week while at my son's place. I left the propane on thinking it would keep everything cold. That heater drained the battery and the propane couldn't get spark to fire up. Once I found out I had the heater I just turned it off and left it off.
