I have just bought a 1989 Chevrolet Gulfstream RV for towing my race car. For 20 years I have used an enclosed tri axle trailer that converts to living quarters once the car is removed. However, I now have a change of plan and am going RV and flatbed trailer. My RV is old and needs a bit of love, therefore I have joined this forum to gain knowledge of how to rebuild it to bring it back to its former glory.

Hi Just two. Its 7.4 big block with, I think, a TH400. Its going to take some work but am getting on with it. Im struggling to get to grips with the interior electrics at the mo but will sort it in the end

Wow looks nice. I like the size. Should be a fun project. I wish I was close enough to help.
I rebuilt a 2021 BT5210 B+ “Covid camper”.
As your rebuilding, keep in mind that you may want to upgrade it in the future. Add conduits for power upgrades or changes, and leave access for future growth.

I am about to start on upgrading my 12 volt house battery system. I purchased a new 300 amp hour heated lithium battery and a Renogy B2B charger.
I have 200 watts of solar assigned to charge this when in the sun. The B2B charger has an MPPT controller built in. I intend to use that for external solar when parked in the shade.

That looks intriguing. How does it fix to the window? I have a 1200 watt panel on the roof of my racebox, which this motorhome is replacing, I was thinking of doing that again. I will spend some time investigating the electrics today now that I'm home from racing. Not sure how to fix anything to the roof as I don't know how its condtructed.

Those are 3 suit case solar panels I was testing. I usually have them out where the sun is, as the camper sits in the shade.
I’ve got 1000 watts of panels on the roof. During the rebuild, I replaced the ceiling so I had access to add supports for the fixed panel I installed on the roof. We replaced the ammonia refrigerator for a 12 volt one, so I used the roof vent area as the wire chase.
