I have started the daunting process of stripping out the sodden ceiling and reinstating it. I have got as far as stripping out the ceiling 'finish' material (which was mushy) and then the well soaked insulation. Was it originally insulated plywood? There is still a couple of really wet plywood layers at the very top of the roof against the aluminium. Do i just replace the insulation by gluing it up and reinstating the ceiling with my choice of covering?

You need to glue some plywood or luan paneling to give support to the metal roof so it will support weight like walking on it, or snow load in the North. Usually some sort of light 1X2 wood bracing is added to support the new plywood. I assume you recoated the roof to solve the leak problem before all this interior work?

Hi Jamesham. Thanks for the reply. I have recoated the roof but, unfortunately it is still leaking. I have absolutely no idea how it can be as, I reskinned the roof with 1.2mm aluminium where there were tiny holes through the original skin. Lots more investigating to do. The weather here in UK has taken a turn for the worse and the RV stands outside. There are rotten wood supports in the roof frame so, it looks like, once the weather starts to get better, It will be a major removal and rebuild job. I will just try to cover it for now.

Best time to fix the roof while the ceiling is down. That is what I did. I found some leaks where the camper wall connected to the front fairing and at the four front roof marker lights. And that’s on a 2021 5210. Crazy.
Also with the ceiling down you might think about adding supports for solar mounts, if you plan on roof mounted solar.
Good luck, be persistent.

Thanks for the reply Just two. It certainly does baffle me how badly they are built!!! I will take your advice and make supports for the solar. Thanks again.
