Hi. I have a 2000 GS Ultra. It’s still in pretty good shape. I’m updating it and want to replace the jack knife sofa with a pullout sofa bed. My problem is there is no floor under the sofa and the sofa is bolted to the frame. Now I can put a floor in the slide but will taking out the sofa compromise the integrity of the coach? If so does anyone have any suggestions ? I really need to replace that sofa. Thanks in advance for your help.

Just a point of clarification... How is the sofa both in a slide and bolted to the frame? Anyhow, I don't think if you remove the sofa and replace it with another type. You want/need to bolt it down too.

Remove or don’t remove? In your
Earlier post you said don’t remove. And if I’m not unbolting the seat belts why would I needt o bolt down the new sofa? Sorry I’m a complete MH newbie.

Poor wording on my previous post. Replace it will be fine. Even though the sofa is heavy, in a panic stop, or sharp fast turn, the thing may/will tend to move.

We just had the jackknife sofa removed and a custom built dinette installed in our 2022 BT5230. We gained more usable floor area and storage space under dinette seats with the addition of two drawers under dinette benches. The existing floor in the slider matches the floor in the RV

Do you have any other photos you can share? I also have a 2017, 5230 and want to remove the jackknife “slide sofa” and replace it with a dinette that can convert to single sleeper. Thanks

Do you have any before and after pics you can share, I am interested in doing this exact thing for my 2017 - 5230. Thanks

We did not take a before picture. The shop did take apart sofa and used the material and foam from sofa, dinette matches the sofa on the other side. The pedestal's mount does move up and down and it can be moved left or right if needed. So this is now a single sleeper with two drawers. The amount of useable floor space increased. Our rig is now only a two person setup. Table top is solid surface and matches sink counter top.
