Replacing DM2672 With a 12V Norcold Refrigerator

I want to replace the 2 way fridge with a 12V electric. We are on a site and don't travel. Plus the freezer doesn't defrost and it gets icy around the door and inside. Old school stuff there and have no patients to defrost a freezer.

Finding the right fridge dimensions is almost impossible. Gulf stream support was no help as they said they don't make them.

I found a Norcold 8 Cu. ft. 12v. It shows it's designed for a cutout of 52-7/8 inches in height, 23-1/2 inches in width, and 24 inches in depth on Amazon. The dimensions of our fridge is H 53.75 x W 23.69 x D 24, (got that from gulf stream support so I know the exact measurements of ours) .

My question is, if our space is a little bigger would I just put extra wood to fill in any gaps? I don't want to cut anything out and would rather fill in to make my job easier.

Also if anyone knows of any around the dimensions of our fridge feel free to add because it's crazy looking for them. You would think Gulf Stream support from their site would offer a list of refrigerators that would fit in our camper.

Space a little bigger is easy to trim; too small is the issue of more concern

I replaced that same refrigerator for the same Norcold you listed. It fit in the area fine. I had to remove the door to the camper to get it exchanged. I later replaced the frameless windows and could have taken it out through one of these.

I used the roof vent to run several solar wires to panels on the roof. I eventually replaced the side vent with a boat hatch that is air tight. It opens to gain access to the compressor area of the new frig.

We did have an issue with the Norcold 12 volt on a trip. We had to be place the eyelid board. $200.

HA! Just saw this is a manual defrost. Not happy.

The refrigerator very rarely gets frosted. we have used ours for several years in all kind of climates. And defrosted it once.

It cools quickly and doesn’t seem to be affected by hot weather. We did have the camper parked for a week in 6 degree weather and had issues with stuff freezing in the refrigerator section.
