I just purchased a Bounty Hunter toyhauler and the rear of the vehicle is very low. Measured at the center of the receiver for the hitch it is 12 1/2 inches above ground level. I seemed to scrape it on everything. If anyone else who has one with the diesel FRED I would appreciated your comments on the height of your vehicle. It is currently at the dealer for evaluation of the problem.

Mike:
I cannot answer your question, but check with your state DMV for minimum height requirements for the vehicle. I know some states have regulations that prevent load carrying vehicles from being to low to the ground.

Also, in a previous GS life, ie, my extremely poor Endura, I had a friend weld two heavy duty drag-prevention wheels to the rear hitch supports. This more than paid for itself by preventing my grinding the Endura's rear-end on the pavement during angled entry/exit's. If it makes sense, you should consider having them on your rig as well.

Bounty Hunter Ride Height

Well, I have a partial answer to the problem with my new Bounty Hunter. The Freightliner Chassis is level fore and aft. The coach is sagging very badly. When placed next to another Bounty Hunter mine looks like someone had heated the rear springs and lowered the unit. But the chassis is level. My unit is actually 3 1/2 inches lower in the rear thatn the other unit. Gulf Stream is evaluating the issue, and we will see what they come up with. Anyone have any ideas on what the problem is?
