I have a bt cruiser 2003. I have a problem with the slide. It is in and it will not go out. I bought it this way. I tried manually to move it out, but the gearbox or maybe a motor lock will not let this happen. I can’t really get to it with it in. I don’t know the brand, but it is a rack and pinion.
Anyone have any advice?

I just finished a YouTube video on four different types of slides in travel trailers. A lot of it crosses over in the motorhomes. You I believe have a rack and pinion type system. Nothing is gonna move that thing until the gearbox is released. I also believe there’s a long bar that will fit into it and you can put a battery drill on it and spin it in and out for service. Start digging up videos. Go to YouTube U. I would also track the wires where they come out of the slide and get my little hands on them. I would prove the motor is getting electricity. It’ll be 12 Volt most likely 30 A. Yes, Jimmy, you can weld with that. So don’t.

On an old Pace Arrow I had a few years back there was a switch on the gear box under the slide that had to be disengaged before you can do it manually. Also on my Gulfstream atrium the driver seat has to be All the Way Forward before the slides will operate. the other option would be to unplug the slide motor and get a 12 volt battery and run two wires to the plug on the motor wiring it one way will cause it to go in the other way will cause it to go out.

I’ve been fooled several times by the parking brake. We won’t discuss the night. I drove away with the right side slide wide open. That was a moment of pause.
On a golf stream slide. In mind, I have a jack knife sofa. It’s bolted into the raised deck of the slide. I tried to screw it back down. But the screw is telling me it’s up against some kind of steel under the linoleum. Could it be true that they’re using metal on the floor of this thing?

Potential issues w/ slides on BTCruiser: 1) Driver's seat might need to be full forward and tilted to make switch (slide clearance reasons); 2) IGN may need to be OFF (some years/ models lock out slides if IGN= On?; 3) May need IGN= ON w/ engine running, as some slide MFR want the higher voltage of running engine; 4) Jacks may need to be down if equipped? 5) 12vdc Breaker beside battery maybe tripped and have manual RESET button on the narrow end, often hidden by wires Slides usually direct to battery vs thru the fuse panel and are protected by breaker by battery and inline fuse for controls. 6) Some slides use motor control circuit board and RESET button on the circuit board?

I just looked on Amazon for RV slide out motors. You can ID the motor and system then do research on fault.
I would first look for a park brake switch that was added to lock out slide out if brake is not applied. Our 2022 BT 5230 is equipped with Lippert In Wall Schwintek dual motor system with remote mounted controller in side compartment below slide out.
