Greetings!

Now for the next issue.....

My 2008 Super Nova has a Voyager Rear view monitor and camera system.
I do not know if it was original equipment or an add on.

The system is black and white and the video quality is terrible. The monitor picture is washed out and the brightness or contrast cannot be adjusted.

I NEED to replace it with a color / better rear view system so I can keep track of what is behind me.

The current system is hard wired and uses a 4 wire square connector for the video feed. I am sure this goes to the camera for power and video, but I have not removed the camera for the back of this very tall rig to confirm.

The connection to the monitor uses a separate connector for:
- Power - can be left on all the time
- Reverse switch power - for backing up
- ground

My questions / request for information is:

- is the current Voyager system from the GS factory?
- Has anybody replaced their system with an updated system?
- If so, what replacement system did you use?

My preference would be for a "Plug n Play" replacement system that uses the existing wires. If I cannot use the existing wires, not a big deal and a wireless system would be used.

Looking forward to hearing from others on recommendations or experiences.

Thank you

Mine has the black and white camera/display too, with sound. Mine does have brightness adjustments.

A friend of mine recently put a bluetooth camera in his RZR with a monitor in the dash. Rear view mirrors are nearly useless in UTV's, and this solution works pretty good. He was showing me the box, and the camera on his has a 40' range to the monitor. Its a 7" monitor, he got it off amazon for like 90$ or so. I am half tempted to try one on my SN. The only thing his doesnt have is sound, and I like the sound function on mine.

Maybe worth a shot?

TIP: 1) I discovered early that if camera video quality= bad, =CLEAN THE LENS. RAIN, FOG, MORNING DEW CAN RENDER BLANK SCREEN, OR 80% BAD. 2). Mount camera where more easily reached/ cleanable. Some say below clearance lights gives better night vision, less interference. I can clean mine by stepping on bumper while holding ladder.

Suggest power camera from rear clearance lights= control from HL SWITCH vs maybe now on backup lights? 2) CLEAN LENS, then eval picture quality

Greetings,

Thanks for the tips.
Yes, I have cleaned the camera lens and yes it is mounted below the rear marker lights on the back.

I am still struggling on trying to figure out the square camera/monitor wire connection. it is small and has 4 wires, but the majority of current hard wire connectors (eg: GX12 connectors are round. I would like to just buy a new monitor and a camera to just plug it in but am not the most up to date on these connectors.
Sorry, have not been able to take a picture of it yet.......
The Ball is in my court to dig this up.

OK, Let me finish this up, ( I hate it when question posts do not get finalized)

I reached out to Gulfstream and they suggested I contact ASA electronics in Elkhart Indiana who makes the Voyager system.

I called and the 800 number was answered by Dustin, (He is a great guy with lots of knowledge.). I submitted photos of my existing mostly non functioning monitor that did not have a ID or model number sticker. He immediately identified it and not only suggested a replacement model, but a new cable adaptor to connect the new monitor with the old wires.

I asked him where I should purchase and he suggested 2 different vendors.
I called RVcams.com in Louisiana and spoke to Brent. Again another great person to deal with. Not only were their prices much lower than Amazon, (Nice!), they shipped it to my house in California in 2 days.

The installation went smooth and now I have a very usable and fully functioning system for better safety.

Next up will be a new COLOR camera to upgrade the B/W one, but it will have to wait until I get back from my next RV trip to Reno in mid May.

Just wanted to share and let people know about excellent service and customer support.
