Good morning,
We bought a used Conquest several years ago and now want to add a tow package. There is a bolt on 3500 pound hitch on the back that we want to upgrade it to a 5000# hitch so we can tow a Jeep Wrangler. Pretty sure the engine is no problem but have questions on the chassis. Any thoughts on a bolt on or welded 5000# hitch? Would it make a difference if we did not fill the water tank when driving to help with weight?

Thanks in advance!

I suspect there is a reason you only have a 3,500 lb hitch. Changing the hitch does not mean you can tow (safely) a 4,000+ Jeep. What information do you have as to Gross Vehicle Weight Rating for the motorhome, Gross Combined Weight Rating. What are your actual weights for the fully loaded mh (water, full fuel, food, clothes, kitchen stuff, people and animal weight. The more the mh weighs the less you can tow.

And yes, no water is less weight, and will help with the numbers.
