Vista cruiser folding bed

I have a 2005 Vista Cruiser MB edition with the bed in the back. Does anyone know how and why the bed folds? It has 3 joints with hinges but I can’t figure out how they are to be used. There’s an odd cutout on the back edge for no apparent reason and any effort to fold the bed conflicts with other body parts.

Sounds different form my 2015 but should be similar. Does the bed go across front of the camper that is how mine is and it folds up to allow access to storage underneath and to your spare tire. Mine you have to hold up the mattress then raise the cover of the compartment . It folds in half completely across the bed. There is a floor but a cover in the floor that allows you to get to the spare tire.,Fresh water tank is also underneath this area.
