Default door shock

In our Tourmaster we have a small hyd. cylinder to hold the door from swinging all the way out and hitting the mirror. The problem is when a heavy wind comes the door can get away from you and "snap" its gone. I took a small nylon strap screwed it to the top of the door and the other end on to the inside door frame. I made it tight enough so it stops before it snaps the head of the shock. Here in the land of 40 mph wind daily, it works like a charm.

I also do not have a shock on the door. It swings out but is regulated by a spring within the hinge. It also does not hit the mirror.
Perhaps and improvement made by GS from 2006 to 2007?
Nice job with the nylon strap.
Safe travels

Mine snapped in the wind as well.

Warranty repaired it last year. It was obviously a 2006 design flaw fixed on the 2007 models.

I wonder if the 2006 can be retrofitted with the spring latch like mentioned on the 2007 models?

We looked at a 2008 and found the door to be much nicer than the one we have. Even the way it locks is nicer. I would think you would need to replace the entire door. However the strap we added worked to a certain extent. We had 40 mph winds yesterday and the door was not completely closed, the wind caught it and blew it open ripping the new strap apart but saved the shock. We will be using part of a ratchet strap to replace it.
